    legally on-duty not driving....

Personally do you really want to log 48hrs of solid on duty time?? Most weekend drills you are on duty 24hrs of the day... Log on duty if you want to burn all the hours you use to drive, log off duty cause it is a vacation, no one would ever question you on it, log department has no idea why you are off.

Technically, you are required to log any time that you are paid for work done. I farm, and by the book I am supposed to log even farming related activities. I show off duty.

Legally you log it off duty for guards! I posted the very Q&A from the FMCSA regulations website. I also stated read through the Q&A for fire fighters to me that's crazy but good for the fire fighters.

capnhector you are right....if you are a truck driver and on weekends you are a walmart greeter, you technically have to log the hours you work at walmart as "on duty not driving". if you work for ANYONE< you are supposed to log it as such. HOWEVER---I will have to get back to you on the page number but in the FMCSR book, it says that time spent at National Guard CAN BE LOGGED AS OFF DUTY. I'll put up a new post when I find that again in the book, it's in my truck.

It was on page two of this thread however I am going to repost the answer from the book.

Question 28: How should time spent at National Guard meetings and training sessions be recorded for the hours-of-service requirements?

Guidance: A member of a military reserve component, serving in either an inactive duty status, such as weekend drills, or in an active duty status, such as annual training, may log that time as "off-duty time" regardless of whether such duty time is paid or unpaid. This is consistent with the rights and benefit entitlements provided in the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (38 U.S.C. 4301 et seq.)

Here is the link so you can give it to your employeer! Pay does not always mean you have to log line 4.

For those of you that told them to log it on duty. You ever stop to think of the issue of 2 weeks a year for summer camp or a 1 year deployment??? 365 days times 24? DOT would love that.... cha ching$$$$$$:biggrin_2554:
