Company drivers are set at 65. Lease drivers can request to be set to 75 or 72 I forgot. Recent accidents or liability drivers get turned down to 62 or 60. That’s how it was when I was there.

That all depends. I always look for light loads, not sure why any O/O wouldn't. On the mostly 70 mph highways in the eastern U.S. I set the cruise to 74 if traffic isn't heavy. No problems. I still get 8 mpg in my truck. I would go nuts if governed again. Having the ability to get away from a bunch of Swift trucks running together is wonderful.

From 2004-2016 i was in governed trucks, anywhere from 62-78mph. The only thing i ever knew was balls out. Flat foot that thing. I gotta go, i gotta go, i gotta go.

In 2016 i bought my truck, had the governor set at 134mph...i rarely ever see 75. I spend 98% of my time in the right lane under 65mph. 62 is really my number, it’s where i tend to hang out.

I guess with that big pedal came that fuel bill and maintenance bill. So from day number one of owning my rig i have lost my hurry. I have no real need to prove anything to anyone, anymore if you don’t let me pass you i just back it down a few mph & let you drive away. Now if you become a pest, yeah i’ll let you know this old gal can still run as i put you in my rear view. The nice part is, that this normally happens with castrated trucks. So all i have to do is bump it up to 70-72 for a couple miles before going back to cruise control, and i never see you again.

Funny how now a days i make fun of company drivers who don’t know how to back out of it, that used to be me. Smh

I talked to a few drivers who had there truck governered but every day they would be allowed to go a bit faster for like 5% of there total driving time. It was all set up in the computer some how.

    PE_T Thanks this.

I hope you will not worry about us in our little car doing 65 on US 67 somewhere in your way. We will make room for you you can be sure.

We have had some problems on that freeway and found that we can take a little longer to get home or where we are going without too much trouble on the vehicle or us.

I travel 67 almost daily. Only trouble i have sometimes is 4wheelers getting mad at me if i hang in the left lane, which you know is much smoother. I set the cruise at 70 and will move over to the right if theres more than one vehicle approaching. Other than the occasional led foot getting mad at me, i dont have any problems with slower vehicles. But mostly because the 50 mile stretch i use isnt very crowded.

Doubt it. I think the truck being super light is what makes it accelerate so fast.
