I'm not Bear either and I've never been in the military however I am a licensed civilian pilot and every civilian aircraft I've flown or ridden in has red lighting. Flashlights have red filters, panel lights are mostly red although one cessna 421 I used to fly did have natural color panel lights but they could be dimmed all the way to nothing.

I hate anything blue in the cab at night, looking at it then back to the road and I have night blindness for a period of time.

My Sirius radio thing is bright blue and I hate it! I turned it off a while back, and dimmed my panel lights as well, it was like going back in time...... much easier on my eyes. Been contemplating changing my dash bulbs to red.

I wish I could go live on video to show you guys up north how we handle a possible 1-2" inches of wintry mix down south like pros. (We leave out several hours early to stay ahead of it. Oh, and grocery store shelves are empty!)

I'm afraid I might have put out some misleading information at 0dark thirty this morning. It's difficult to recall that info from 25 year's ago when you haven't touched a bird since. Now, they DO have Red lights for night ops, and ALL of the Maintenance and Launch and Recovery crew use nothing but Red up on the flight deck at night, I wasn't a flyer but a fixer. Those Red lights can be hard to see in the daylight and they also have Natural ( clear bulbs ) lights for Daylight ops. They had a way to switch back and forth between the Red and the Clear if I remember right. Cat Flyer is way more current and way better trained than I am and his post and Bear's, got the rusty gears trying to mesh. I was hearing some groaning and grinding. Kinda spooky. But no major breakage or snapping so I think it might be serviceable with some minor maintenance. I hope so, that brain is the only one I've got on the Inventory List. Y'all have a great day.

Finally got front brakes in the mail for this. Might be able to get it off the jacks today.
