Take the black cap off the governor. There will be a stud sticking up with a nut holding it in place. Loosen the nut and turn the stud to adjust the governor cut out pressure. I'm thinking you'd turn the stud counter clockwise to lower the pressure. Don't forget to tighten the nut when done.

ALSO make sure the governor is installed right, we've had a few Bendix replacements that have ports that were switched around and caused issues.

Follow the signal line from your air governor to your compressor unloading valve. You'll probably find a break in that line somewhere.

Problem solved, the old drier never had the machine gun sound and the original plan was to replace just the air govenor.
But at the shop to many suggestions were being floated around and somehow I got talked into replacing the whole unit with air govenor.
So, back on went the old air drier and a brand new spankin $18 adjustable govenor Bam!! problem solved.
Thx fellow Truckers, God bless all of you.stillwurkin Thanks this. -
The idea behind replacing the air drier came from lots of oil in the air tanks. Well, whoever drove this truck before I bought it, never ever drained the tanks.
Now the tanks are drained daily and no oil at all is present.stillwurkin Thanks this. -
The bendix air govenor that came with the air drier was not adjustable along with the original one that came on the truck just preset at the factory. I bought an $18 adjustable govenor from Napa so I could adjust if needed. This one releases at 120psi not 135 like the preset bendix
stillwurkin Thanks this.
