I started with marten as a company driver in 2008 and was doing ok,then everything changed.
My dispatcher started giving me loads I could not make on time, when I told her I wouldn't have the hrs to make del on time she wrote me up for it,now mind you out of all the companies I have worked for I never got a bad report until I came to marten.then I asked to get a different dispatcher and they refused my request, they said it was my fault that I couldn't make these deliveries on time, well when you have 5 hrs to drive and you are in Reeds MI,at 1700 and you have to p/u load and get it to Mulfreesboro TN by midnight on time thats impossible.plus you do alot of sitting and waiting,I never sat more then 3hrs with any company until I came here, example I left Ind IN 3-19-08 at 10am delivered in seymour IN,drp & hk at 11:45am then had a p/u in Glasgow KY at 14:25 then del in TN at 17:00 I did not get a load out of there until 3-20-08 at 19:25 and thats happened more then a few times, and im not the only driver that has had that happen, and it always happens with this 1 dispatcher, and if you call and complain they turn the tables and say its drivers error, thats BS.so when I left marten to persue a different career,I was told by my fleet planner and sub dispatcher that it was ok to drp trl at drp yrd and trk at marten's repair shop.A friend picked me up and drove me home.3 days later I get a message in the mail from Randy Marten saying thanks for abandoning my trk guess by your service record it doesn't surprise me,next time someone sticks it up your ### call me and let me know how it feels, now that is being a true professional.
now mind you they deducted 700.00 out of my check for the truck recovery then I contacted them and questioned them on it,they investigated and sent me a chk for the money they took out for the recovery, they said I did not abandoned the trk,I checked my DAC report and nothing negitive was on there from marten or any other company.
Now when a company that I apply at calls marten for a review they tell that company that I abandoned the truck, now you people tell me am I wrong for saying that marten is a bunch of crooks and liars...

no don't blame you at all..

You should have put this in your first thread then the back lash would not have happened now that you have explained your situation I do not blame you ..

    But ....
In this economy you will have to do some waiting around no matter where you are. And if you set for 27 hrs or so as stated you should have hrs to run but I understand not knowing and staying up all day then get a MSG to run all night long I understand

    Yessiree,

That makes more sense my friend. Did you keep a copy of that letter Randy Marten sent you? I beleive you my friend, not questioning your integrity. I suggest that Randy might not want that letter to be in your hands now in hind sight. As for the abandonment, did you get the orders from your dispatcher via Q-com or telephone? I might suggest that in the future you get documentation. If not, photograph the truck at the repair facility. Keep that forever.

    Good luck

I have worked for marten 3 times in the last 15 years, and personal problems have made me leave each time. Every time i told them i was leaving i gave them a 2week notice to get another driver for the truck. During the last part of the 2nd week, i checked with my fleet manager often to get a load close to a terminal nearest to my home. They always got me that load. I took the truck & trailer to the terminal and had mechanic come out to look at truck, and all returned equipment, and got it in writing. I feel if you need to quit, just do it the right way. Maybe you'll want to go back someday.
