I have one that had a similar problem
I don't know the name of the wire but on drivers side it was a thicker wire wit a molded black junction thing...looks like a fuseable link but it's not.i had to wiggle it and it stay running. Had no visible damage either....ill try to get a pic of it and hopefully I can post it.....drove me crazy for quite awhile before I found itjsnell, Oxbow and KittyKicker Thank this. -
Yeah, if you could post a picture of that it would be great!Oxbow Thanks this.

Did you ever find the problem @KittyKicker?
Oxbow Thanks this. -
No, I haven't. However, I was talking to a mechanic at kenworth who looked at it briefly and said he has seen those symptoms before. It was on another CAT where the owner had installed a new compressor. Somehow while installing the compressor the gear lash was thrown off and the cam position sensor was losing it's timing marks. I have not yet had the chance to recheck the gear lash, but it would make sense...

We have a couple of 6nz's and occasionally upon startup then it will start and then within a second or two it will stumble and the rpm's will slow, not quite till it dies and then it will pick back up to normal idle speed. no check engine light or anything. They don't do it at every start, but more than not. I just figured it was normal since it has never gotten worse in the 7 years that we've owned the trucks.
KittyKicker Thanks this.
