In the tanker world we have the hedge fund manager gang quality distribution that's owns quality carriers, boasso and QC Energy Resources.
The Kenan advantage companies that are 20 different bulk companies
Then Dana group that are 2 companies owned by 2 brothers.
Then the rest are minor players and the problem is that all mega fleets have so many hands on the pockets is awful... example of a big company
Swift has a brokerage that brokerage gets their cut, then big swift get their cut, then if you work for a affiliate that affiliate gets their cut after all of that the o/o gets their cut so that 2 dollars a mile is probably a 7 to 8 dollars a mile at the beginning of the transaction

Dana actually runs under three companies authority. Dana Transport, Liquid Transport Corp (LTC), and Suttles (both Arkansas and both Alabama terminals).

What’s funny is that the only reason Knight owns that portion, yes PORTION, of Swift is because Swift nearly went bankrupt this past year. So Jerry Moyes came back to the original “family” he had begging for help. So Knoght agreed to help if they could purchase a portion of Swift. They agreed. Be that as it may.... give it a year or two. There won’t be Swift anymore. I personally see Knight buying them completely out and it will become a huge monopoly attempt.

No … Knight already bought Swift. Knight controls the board and the chair.

I don't want to learn how to abuse-exploit companies or people.

I've read the same things about Knight-Swift questionable/immoral business tactics.
I do not approve of "knight-swift put the screws to USA Truck" .... "just like Western Express." On an individual or corporate level, it is wrong to exploit someone's temporary weakness through immoral business tactics .... (hostile takeovers or force buyouts .... etc.).

Here's the Knight-Swift driver shortage / empty truck seats report:

Dave Jackson, CEO of Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings, said ....

“Freight demand was generally strong across our network on a better-than-seasonal basis throughout the quarter,” he said in a statement on April 25, 2018. “At the same time, given tight unemployment and our uncompromising commitment to safety, we continue to face perhaps the most difficult driver-sourcing challenge we have seen, which is a headwind on our unseated truck count and utilization metrics.”
Knight-Swift Reports ‘Progress’ With Merger, Sees Challenges in Getting Enough Drivers

I would be concerned with how almost ALL these OTR companies treat the drivers vs how these fat cats treat each other.
Pay by miles on E-log & 70hr weeks (and thats just log hrs)? No OT? Minimum wage if anything on X-pay? No FLSA protection?
People now days don't want to work, let alone 70hrs per week for straight pay. And they do have safety standards that cause them to lose drivers. I think they have like 8 ways in their code of conduct that you can get terminated. And it is a tight labor market.
