    Go to a tech school.

Check community colleges near you. They may have a program.

I'd stay away from the "helper" jobs. A couple guys I know quit the program at the community college, because some shop owner promised them big bucks and convinced them "you don't need any school for this". Last I saw them they were still swinging brooms, waiting for their "on the job training".

I wrenched for 8 years and now I'm back trucking, so waddafugduwino..........

You need schooling for the electronics.

    Yes it is.

    "The Odyssey".....

From back in the long ago time; the mid-80s.

Not sure if this "vocational rehabilitation" was BEFORE or AFTER the computer-building "vocational rehabilitation".

I guess once one gets above 15000 posts, one assumes no one is paying attention......

Get familiar through internet right away if you’re serious. A lot to learn and stir your curiosity.Have Met more than a few Nashville Diesel Graduates. It’s very expensive. Most were doing oil and grease jobs at Petro/ TA . Not really impressed by Utube videos aspecially the one on running an overhead full of mistakes.Ideally find an Independant Shop and be willing to follow directions and willing to learn.I notice Dealerships have certain certified techs licenses and Certifications posted. I imagine some went to classes after getting hired. First place to check is Local Community College. Instead of relying on internet get out and talk to local folks in the industry. A lot will be very willing to help. Some May Be Real Jerks. Don’t get discouraged. Big demand for Techs that’s only getting worse. Good Luck

My advise would be to enlist in the service. Get some on the job training and make Uncle Sam foot the bill. If I had it to do all over again, I'd join the Coast Guard, smallest branch and the most highly trained people I know of. Certainly better then being in the Infantry in the Army, like I did, At least you get out with a Vocation. Well, that's my .02$
