If you were building a Tri drive for Heavy Haul, all new diffs from housings, to guts, and axles...would your choice be Eaton, Rockwell, or other. I have not bought brand new diffs in a long time.
Yes it will be tri drive.
    Thanks in advance.

Meritor for sure. Eatons were popular in the 80s and 90s but meritor seem to be the go to now.

A lot of guys in the North Thompson #### talked the Eatons in the 80's/90's trucks. My father's first new tridrive (a 2003 I think) had Eatons. They put an update in the power dividers before it rolled off the lot and he never had any issues with the diffs over 4 years of running the bush.

I've always had Rockwell, Eaton, or Mack diffs. But its been a long time since I've built a HH truck from the ground up. And certainly haven't kept up on the diffs of today.
    Thanks guys.

Eatons seem to have more power divider issues. Starting selling more meritor/rockwell. So far so good.

So if a guy were to want to convert a tandem truck to a tri drive, what would I need to get for an axle? Any front axle from a set of 46k drivers would work as long as I can get the special third member without a power divider so that is sends full power to the front axle as well as the rear axles, correct?

On tridrives, the front 2 axles have power dividers and the rearmost axle doesn't. Basically a tandem with two front diffs in a row. There is no "special" third member.
