Yeah, uh...lol. Strange as it may sounds...Schneider actually has expenses. Little stuff like tens of thousands of trucks and trailers, payroll, fuel, insurance...etc.
It doesn't matter much they earned, because in order to EARN that, they also SPENT a ton of money.
Schnieder National ..... What BS!

12,000 tractors isn't exactly tens of thousands . Chris Lufgren , CEO of Schneider is on record saying labor is an expense that he says he has a hard time recovering . He will keep wages as low as he can and would like immigration laws eased so he can bring in boatloads of immigrants to drive . Really great people to work for .

I didn't know the exact number...thought it was 19k...but I think thats the number of drivers.
My point was that the guy is complaining about the GROSS total of money that Schneider earned. Every company makes a ton of money, and in the trucking world, most of that is used in payroll and fuel.
Yeah, and I know the quote you copied and pasted below...you keep using it. I remember replying to it the last time you posted it. -
Pumpkins made 3.7B in 08 versus 3.4 in 07. They have a pay freeze in affect through the end of 2009 for all 21,000+ employees and have suspended contributions to retirement accounts They said they used the extra money they made to pay down debt. They blame a downturn in freight and volatile fuel prices for their decision to freeze pay rates and suspend contributions to 401K's. They would like each of their associates help in reducing expenses so they can pay off debt and weather the economic downturn.
Instead of paring down their fleet in the face of reduced demand like others they have decided to freeze pay and bennys and let you sit at the T/S thinking of more ways to save them money. -
so what you are saying is that, you would rather see them lay off people.
and correction on your part...they ARE reducing the size of their fleet. Kinda helps your argument if you know the facts. -
it seems like there are quite a few trucks sitting on the Carlisle back lot -getting ready to be sold.
I do have a complaint about the smaller shower towel(s) -but that is a whole nother issue.
Suck it up! A year ago O/Os were complaining of the fuel costs and low freight + wages. -should have complained then -now is a little too late. Companies and company drivers must eat it together. -
Hi zeba town, Do you know if Gunville will hire student drivers?
Thanks -

They probably will . Not too many experienced drivers will go for that "work hard for low pay but high miles " line . Why do you think they need drivers ? I laugh every time I see one of those "Want more miles ? " stickers on a trailer . No thank you . I get all the miles I want and all my restarts at home . I don't work hard . Most of the time I just drive and hook and unhook trailers .spinpsychle Thanks this. -
No, Just stop hiring people.
OK so what John Brenholt, chief financial officer at Schneider, says is fiction to you. That's what I love about this site. I can give a fact and have someone tell me I should help my argument by knowing the facts.
Tell you what, the next time I state a argument, unlike what My post was, I will heed your advise.
Now I would like to see any article or interview where the Executives at Schneider have said they are reducing fleet size versus expanding their core services.

Schneider is advertising all the time on yahoo for drivers. It would make since to reduce the fleet. Just don't hire drivers until you need more. They wouldn't need to lay anyone off.
