Yea when I was with Arnold Transportation many years ago, we would run 57 footers across I-10 back and forth.Back then, the law required 53' footers to have stickers on the front of them but there was no such requirement for 57 footers so drivers would come in and grab one of those 57 footers and take off up north with it! lol They usually caught them on the qualcomm before they got out of FL but now and then one would slip through. Theyd get turned around in Ga though.
How to handle NO SPACE at shippers/receivers?

After driving otr for over 2 years I found myself at a shipper in LA(Carson) that was so tight I couldn't even get the trailer out and had to have a yard dog get it. That alone caused a jam by itself.
After that I was done with California for good. Now I'm regional -
I remember back in the day the backing test at JB HUNT.
This one girl hit the same trailer 3 times trying to put it in the hole.
And this is not a tight set up.
4th try, got it in there.

We have a customer that actually has us do this. We simply check in at the gate, pull into 1 of 6 spots just inside, drop. Then grab our loaded, after we have one of the yard guys dig it out for us. Pain in the ###. But zero chance of damaging truck or trailer.

Forty-seven applicants who can? Most companies say that’s all they get for the whole year!
-
and some other companies have to hire a flatbed, to haul away all the boxes of applications they turn down..!!Lepton1 Thanks this.

You are so correct. If you hit something they say you should have called. If you call you get replaced.
-
Replaced with who, exactly? We don't exactly have an excess of experienced drivers.
