Hey All! I just started for a flatbed group out of Tulsa, Ok........I will be carting oilfield machinery , parts etc .from shippers like Borets, Gardner/ Denver down to oil wells and the like near Midland/ Odessa area on a weekly basis.......I have never worked around oilfield and have only heard terms like " well- site" , " lease road" , "pump station" etc...I would like to know how I can differentiate or get a better idea of what a site looks like so I can have a better chance at finding them......I guess Im asking what types of sites are there, and how to tell what Im looking at i.e "rig" , "Pump station" , "Well- site"......any help appreciated......thx

Put in coordinates on google maps to where you need to go or get your contact person at the destination to drop a pin at the destination then go to it using their directions, google maps satellite view. Learn what those things are while you are driving by them.

Yes google maps satellite view is the only way to go, I started a couple of month ago in ND using satellite view before heading to a location saved my ### more than once.

They can drop a pin on the google map then send it to you via text message on your phone. Then you see it and go to it. Or someone can send you coordinates and you enter them into google maps. It will show on the google map so you can go to it.

Also if you are going to haul pump jacks and the like, be careful of the height on your load, they hit the overpasses on a regular basis out here on I-20. Unless the jack is chained down properly it will rotate and get higher as you go down the road with it.....

Ahhhh technology. It's probably going to be some "trial by fire" as well as there are still plenty of crusty old-timers out there that still prefer to give written and or oral directions to their lease/pad/location. ..........From county line go S3 E2 after 5th CG bear left to 2nd pad past the SWD..........Man the stories I can recall about shady and confusing directions........."Turn left at the dead coyote!!"..............Don't sweat the small stuff though, while it sounds quite confusing you will pick up the jargon pretty quick BOL!!
