I don't PC. To me it's just opening a can of worms. Now instead of black and white, you're subject to someone's discretion. That's probably not gonna end well, and they can still get you during audit.

Like our resident DOT said - What constitutes PC? Anything you could accomplish in a taxi cab.

    It's a can of worms.

No choice to print. We can fax or email (from the Omnitracs console) and I’m going to do whichever the officer wants in order to expedite the process and get on my way with zero hassle.

the VDO road log that I put in a drivers truck has the ability to print. That’s why I chose it....so the non tech savvy driver can look after it all and I don’t have to be bothered baby sitting some teat sucking DOT cop that wants an e-mail. Honestly I’ll pull the truck off the road and retire the driver before I do that.....Which is what the ATA wants anyway

What’s the problem with emailing them? I don’t get it. It takes maybe 20 seconds to type in the address and press Send. Last thing I want to do is mess with dragging out a printer that may or may not work.

The vdo roadlog has a printer...driver just presses a button and it spits out a 4 ft long grocery receipt. Trouble is the revenuers don’t like the grocery receipt format so they just write a ticket for something else.

I don’t sit at a desk all day waiting for my driver to call for his logs. Last thing I want to do is pull over to email logs. It’s a pain in the ###.

The Electronic Field Operations Training Manual is a guide to enforcement staff, and says to "Check for off-duty/personal conveyance driving activity and ensure that it adheres to the guidance in 49 CFR § 395.8".

The way you are trying to put it, the enforcement staff would not have to follow their own guide, because it is merely guidance, since it's a "guide". That's like saying a user manual has to be included with the ELD, but it has no meaning either, because it is not the actual law, so it is just a meaningless thing required by law, as the only thing that can have any meaning is the exact word of the law itself, not any guidance, guide, or manual explaining the law, or required to be followed by it. Are you kidding... where did you come up with that perspective? Look, the guidance is published for law enforcement as much or more than drivers to follow (as the drivers aren't required to read it, yet officers are)...

Which apparently are no longer being honored by California. Verboten paper. You must run a electronic ELD there.

The Food Warehouses and Cold Storages are some of the greatest abusers of a drivers time, they think nothing of burning three days and nights making us, a team wait on them like Americold in Salinas CA did once. 1200 mile haul for the whole week. Maybe 850 bucks to the two of us team drivers pretax. (About 425 gross. Call it 250 or less net each of us)

Not to mention 320 gallons tractor fuel and 97 gallons reefer the day we loaded. The costs of that fueling probably destroyed any profit FFE banked on with that throw away load.

Because of that, never again will we respond to any loading when told by any dispatcher that is a emergency hurry and be there quick.

That's not our problem. They knew about it for a long time had plenty of people to put on it and to waste a team and a whole week on it? nuh uh. It's been what? 17 years now? And we are still angry with Americold and FFE.

PC? Not necessary when you are parked there full with food, fluids and entertainment plus good bunks to sleep in day and night napping while waiting on them. We had everything in the tractor. Did not need but a dallop of fuel once in a while or maintaince when we burned out alternator or something.

Keep believing that. Guidance is not regulation.

Officers can ignore guidance as it does not have the force of regulation. Oh they may be required to read it, but you will have to show me the reg that says they have to follow it. Don't bother it does not exist.

All of this will be moot the first time one of you kill someone on PC. Don't worry it will happen. When it does people will figure out how much lying is being done under cover of piss poor planning and mismanagement in pursuit of pennies a mile.
