Good luck Pharm. I want to go the same route but I'm trying to get 1 or 2 years of experience before I try to become an O/O.

Please keep us posted. I'm very interested in how this works out for you. Thanks for putting up the post.

Thanks. That was my first choice too. But after almost the first 2 months applying, I realized I was going to be just another guy on here begging for work. Then considering after 6 months having to go back to school, then all the DAC and blacklisting stories, and the terrible training company stories, I realized I didn't think I ever wanted to get involved in all that. This was a good solution all around for me. I know how to ask for help and I think it will be ok.

After reading all the stories of new drivers and their bad experiences with trainers and big companies I am glad you found the resources to try a different approach. I also think you have a better chance by choosing hopper-bottom. Dry van trucking is a mess right now. I can't get hopper-bottom work off my mind. I have to keep my options open as well as we all should. I hope dry van work gets better.

They'll give you a trailer for 10% of gross if you're interested. Very easy to get started...otherwise I would'nt be in it! They handle all maintenance on the trailer too.

I happen to be renting one from my dealer for a flat 1k/month. A little cheaper but maintenance is on me. It is a 2009 peerless though with only 7 months use.

I am going to ride out the dry van world for awhile. I had a great dedicated route. Two rounds from Indiana to Detroit,Mi. Since Christmas it has only went one time a week. I hate having to chase and beg for freight to make-up the lost trip. They keep promising me it will go back to twice a week.
Sounds like you are going to pull a nice trailer. I will see how things go for you before I jump ship to hopper-bottoms.

Another $411 today to add a trailer I don't own to insurance. ($1800 over the year)

$200 more to install an inverter I already bought for $210.

$140 to fix a hood latch.

I have a better understanding of what "death by 1,000 cuts" means. :biggrin_25516:

A 2009 with 7 months of use. It's only March, what a deal. LOL. Just having a little fun with that one.

I've considered going the same way you have, especially after my experience with one training company, but don't quite have the resources available that I need to get started.

Again, good luck. I wish you the best.
