I've never messed with the 11L but the 12.7s I have all have a safety shut down for low coolant level. Will shut down the engine and cause a crank no start. You can unplug the sensor in the top radiator tank to bypass the shut down temporarily.

Very good information. I’m pretty sure the 11L engines are the mostly the same and use DDEC systems. This coolant problem could be annoying and confusing, although I assume there would be such a code.

Currently the engine is running without any faults. Other than the cruise control which does not funtion.

I once had a sterling dump truck with an 11.1 detroit that would start sometime and then at other times it wouldn't.I replaced batteries connectors, checked fuses etc.Come to find out the main lug on starter was gaulded and wouldn't tighten anymore but was just loose enough to cause a loose connection.Once replacing the solenoid with a new one and being able to tight positive terminal which coincidently fed cab It fixed the problem.

My 1995 11.1 will shut down when coolant got low. And did not start back up. Filled back up, and no issues. I had a small leak at the shutoff on back of the water pump.
