Flat bed is NOT hard work.
You want hard work? Go into seafood, machine parts and god only knows what else that can fit into either a reefer or dry van.
Flatbed is actually a routine. Tarp time, strap and chain time, followed by trailer time and done and done. Easy. Do it again tomorrow. And the next day and so on. EASY PEASY. Maybe unloaded and packed up in less than a hour back onto the road.
If you cannot stand flatbed that's fine, look into tanker work. Some loads the worst you deal with is flopping a hose down.

Instead of using generic terms, give name.
For example for a mega...
CRST is horrible, never go there. Schneider is ok.... -
The mega is schnieder. The flatbed company is melton.
This is my first time to this site, so i didnt know if it was ok to throw out company names -
Just an FYI and history lesson. This site was designed for the purpose of listing bad companies. It's evolved to a lot more subjects, basically all things trucking.
Company names are not only fine, but encouraged.
As for the question, I'd do as you already suggested. Goto Melton, keep Schneider on the burner and if Melton isn't horrible cancel orientation with Schneider. -
May be routine, but it doesn't mean that it isnt hard work. Just some loads are easier than othersx1Heavy Thanks this.

Thanks and noted! Sounds like a plan.. still makes me nervous to think one or the other might report something on my dac if I cancel or leave orientation.ZVar Thanks this.
-
You’re technically not hired while you go to orientation, so nothing should go on your dac because you’re not an employee yet.ZVar Thanks this.
-
And even if they do report it, you can:
1. Dispute it
2. Ignore it. After the first year you'll be hopefully getting away from the starter companies that use dac. Far, far more companies out there do not use it than do. -
Oh I see.
I thought if a company signed me up for orientation but I cancelled, they would report to Dac that you didn't show up after accepting or something like that. -
Good to know, thank you!

I cannot wrap my head around that anymore. I’d need a week off after being out 2-3 weeks.just_sayin Thanks this.
