I already installed W7 BETA on my desktop and am happy with it, although my new laptop uses VISTA and I haven't had the problems I had with my desktop, prior to W7.

At first I was skeptical about installing Vista but had no choice due to one of the classes I'm taking. I installed Vista Ultimate on this refurbished workstation I bought from Dell for $200. I installed 8gigs of memory and a nice video card. This thing is running smooth. I've not had a problem with it. Faster response times then XP. Boots really fast, I mean within 10-15 seconds max and I have my desktop.

I am running Windows 7 on my laptop, going to hate it when August comes around, and I have to uninstall.
I think they should give the option to obtain the upgrade version of 7 without having to uninstall.
But what I can say about 7 is that it runs a lot more stable, with Vista my system would freeze up now, and then, but not to much. I liked Vista as well.
But 7 is a lot more user friendly. I believe that users will like it more than Vista.
However, can anyone remember back in the days of Win 3.1, Win. 95.
I think Win. 3.1 only took up like 8 floppy disk.
And Win 95, a CD.
Windows Vista - DVD, and requires a min of 2 gig of hard drive space. Though heck, these days you can pick up a 1 TB hard drive for less than $200.
I remember back in the 90's when I use to build, and repair computers. 250 meg drive was about $120 or so. Now days you can get a 2 gig jump drive card for $29, that is like 8 times the size of a 250 meg HD. lol
Technology has come so far in such a short time, must be getting tips from them there aliens out in Area 51.. ROFL.
Anyway, have a great day!
CharlesBaack Thanks this. -
I wasted my time with Vista and was thankful that there was away to downgrade my laptop to XP.
I wish Mircrosoft will concentrate on making better applications, games or developement tools instead of making another operating system.
Here is why I think I will hate Windows 7 also:
1. Lexmark (like with Vista) probly won't provide a Windows 7 driver for my printer.
2. My USB TV card and USB sound card like with Vista will not work with Windows 7.
3. Internet Explorer browser still will crash more than with XP.
4. Still there will be a learning curve I will have to deal with Windows 7.
5. My 7 year old Nero software still works great in XP but not in Vista.
I never found one thing in Vista that gave an advatage over XP. Maybe Vista could of taken advatage of the 128 bit architech of Intel or something. Not really sure. Media Addition you can have with XP if you buy it on Ebay.
Good luck if you try Windows 7.
Edit:
Just found out Internet Explorer can be removed with Windows 7.

Better yet why upgrade from junk to trash?
XP still rules
