Hello from Western canada! H&R Driver here! I have a question for those of you who run the US mainly. I had a cell phone plan with BELL, and frankly bell sucks!I am looking to go with Verizon out of the US since it is way cheaper and i am there more than i am here.
Anyone have any success or tricks to get a US plan with a Canadian address of residence? thanks, and be safe!

Could try pre-paid

AFAIK, it can't be done using a Canadian address. If you know someone in the U.S you could use their address. You could look at pre-paid, but I don't know if you can get any good plans with them. I was looking at the same thing as I too am out of Calgary and running the western states and I am with Telus.Last edited: Mar 5, 2009

A driver I know has Verizon and has a mail box in Sumas WA, when the bill comes he just pays via credit card and gets way more for a lot less than anything we have up here. He only runs in Canada now and still uses the US carrier for cell, with the package he has, he gets 4000mins for only around 170.00 us per month with no long distance.

I also use Verizon and I am from Ontario. You need a address in the U.S. and subscribe to their North American plan. I got the minimum package which gives me 450 minutes for $59.00. No long distance and no roaming, there is nothing up here that can beat that. (at least I could not find it) You can get more minutes to suit your needs.
I used my sister-in-laws address in th U.S., and pay the bills on-line, works very well.
I believe they bounce off of Bell towers , so service is not too bad.
I hope this helps you. -
Bull dozer is right. You need the Verizon North America plan, with Canada. That's what I've gotten. Adding Canada to it only costs $3.00 U.S. Worked great when all I drove was Ca.

Yeah there is one plan i checked into under their buisness plans. It was like 900 minutes for 60 bucks, whether you called to and from Canada, to and from the US, and with text messages being unlimited. Canadian cellular sucks!
Thanks for the info..more please! lol -
FINCH if your Bell plan sucks then you are on the wrong one! I use Bell & I have the Canada 850 plan with a bunch of extras...but the basics are this... you get 800 anytime minutes that include long distance & for an extra 25$ you can get unlimited evenings & weekends which includes long distance, you can call the US from Canada with no extra charges, no roaming. I understand with their North American plans it includes calling from the US as well...
[added within edit]
I just checked the bell website & it looks like you could use the Canada plans...
[end of addition]
Check the bell mobility website...but I think the North America plan would be what you are after...then you can probably add the unlimited stuff too & would make it much better than having to pay in US$ & have a US address. -
When I did the Verizon thing, I did have to leave a $400 deposit because they cannot get our credit history. They do reimburse it after one year if you pay the bills each month.

How much a month is this Bell plan roughly?
