Then there's the scenario where the truck driver doesn't swerve out of the way and it becomes a fatality. The deceased's lawyer for the estate will excoriate the truck driver ... especially if the event is recorded on video.

...and then the truck driver posts bail and "excoriates" the lawyer while he/she is still breathing...

I will swerve if it is safe to do so, I am the professional driver. It is my career on the line if I fail to swerve and I could have safely done so. It is my $ on the line. And frankly it is also my conciense on thre line/ that driver may have kids in the car. They may be in need of medical attention. It is not aleays a cellphone, drugs, or acholol that causes people to drive like that. There is more at stake for me then my pride. I could never sleep soundly again knowing I killed some kids because I failed to swerve and it was safe to do so.
Just my thoughts. -
Brakes, yes... swerve, no... never. I'm not rolling my truck for anyone.
The driver in that video very well could have rolled his truck. Kids in the vehicle or not, I have my own family to think of. My wife and kids rely on me to bring home the money so they can eat and have a roof over their head. It's very hard to support your family when you're dead. -
I disagree, the grass shoulder of the road was clear, mostly level, and he was in a van trailer that may have for all we know been empty. He and only he knew his roll risk. Its different in every situation. If I had a load of rolled paper in the same situation I am sure the choice would be different.
And I have been at the aftermath of four different roll overs (as in on the ground not in the truck I've seen dozens in the truck), one of which I witnessed, and to be honest, unless other factors are involved I do not see you getting killed by a roll over. Unless you chose to not wear your seatbelt or are carrying hazmat, or some of the loads that bust loose.
What would you do then if school bus full of kids broke down on a blind curve at the bottom of an incline then? Ram them? Hmmm, situational things cannot be covered by blanket statements. 'I will never swerve' is a blanket statement.
Your own child runs out in front of your truck as you are coming home to greet you, gonna swerve?
Neighbors kid does same thing, only chasing a ball, gonna swerve?
That car could be the car with your family members in it, you never know until its too late.
Not trying to pick an arguement but I think you are making a bad blanket statement and one that seems to be kind of 'I dont know them I aint risking crap for them' but you never know, maybe wife and kids rented a car for some reason and went out for a drive, maybe your kids are with a friend in their cars... you NEVER know whose in that other auto. I treat every one as if it WERE my family in it.
There have been cases I wish I could make them pull over and give them a good shaking.Roadmedic Thanks this. -
it is best to be as considerate of the other car as possible, but i'm not running the risk of turning my truck over, because someone is acting erratic.if it's your time to go,then the Lord will decide their fate.

Proof that people don't pay attention to their driving. Folks if you're behind the wheel driving, don't text, eat a bowl of soup/ceral, read a book, newspaper, or the report on your next customer.
