I thought that Don was alright you just can't take what he says to heart you gotta just let it roll of your back. He told me one night during night backing that he acts like a prick on purpose to get people who are on the edge about quiting to quit. He's there to weed out people who don't really want to be there. And also Joe the yard training supervisor told us they weren't buying trucks right now until Paccar finished developing the engine that is comparable to the C15. But he never said anything about TMC switching away from Peterbilt.

You are right about Don making a point of getting under people's skin, and there is some sound logic behind that, but the guy is an idiot. If you are in orientation they aren't really going to tell you anything, Joe is a good guy though and always honest. Last I heard TMC is not buying ANY new trucks this year, I'm pretty sure that was on the news section of their driver account section. Time will tell, honestly I don't think a decision has been or will be made in Des Moines any time soon.

Childish crap. Maybe when he grows up he'll start thinking like an adult.

This whole OTR crap really cracks me up. On real busy weeks I would run 1800 to 2100 miles "but since it's only in two states it's LOCAL":biggrin_25511: Back in the late 90's when I did run "OTR" I seem to recall several weeks running that same amount..hmm..

Cplmac. I'm not too worried bout the "load securement". Chained my first load of logs down at the ripe old age of 13:biggrin_25518:. In the grading biz I've hauled everything from ductile iron pipe to precast manholes & such all the way up to an Hitachi ex750 excavator thats around 161000 pounds & 14' wide. So not really worried bout a little steel or lumber or whatever. So far I think the hardest thing to chain down was either a 627 CAT pan, or the 6 wheel artic trucks on the beam trailer. Thats the really scary one, go in a curve to hot & the tires on your load scrub the ground cause there is no deck under them.:biggrin_2551:

I like Don, and i like the fact that (most) TMC drivers were tough people who diddn't whine very much, the reason for that is Don's behavior for the most part. If you're a complete sissy in class you definitely aren't going to suck it up and do any better once you're on your own, that's for #### sure.

Trucking ain't for everyone you gotta be pretty thick skinned.

Don is a scumbag, period. I don't really buy the thick skinned angle, either you are an adult who has the mental capacity to do your job or your not. And there is no reason to not answer questions without being a douchebag, the point of the class is to learn how to secure a load not how to put up with an obnoxious arrogant prick. There's a reason he got decked by another driver when he was driving for the short period of time he was, and that reason is obvious when you spend more than 30 seconds in the same room with him.

They tell you two years, but some get on that division before then. There is a difference in pay, but I can't tell you for sure how much difference.
