I’m not sure which of the 9 or 10 speeds are easily converted by adding a rear box. I believe it’s 9 speed. Some have front boxes I think. Get # find out. Might be an easy upgrade

Yes some 9's convert to a 13. No 10's Shorting driveshaft is the worst and changing shifter knob. No heavy fab or other impossible work as mentioned before me. Easy job done all the time. Depending what you are doing you may exchange it if the trans needs a rebuild. Overdrive and direct is available. You can have what you want.

Socal Xpress and Rideandrepair Thank this.

That’s what I thought as when I had a 9 spd I was always being told the same

@DYLAN_131 are you a driver or mechanic? Seriously doesn't take much fab work to install a 13speed where a 10speed once was. Cutting down a drive shaft would be the hardest part.

Mechanic. I didn't read enough of the posts to know there is currently a 10 speed. My apologies.

He has a 9speed. My example was just my own truck.

Also depends on the model of trans. I have the Eaton/Fuller convertible transmission list from Eaton. I can post if wanted. The 9 speed in question (RTO14609) from the thread starter is not mentioned.

To quote myself: If you want a 13 speed from your current transmission, buy Eaton's K-2034. This will give you a 13 speed, but your overall final drive ratio will be .62:1 instead of .73:1.

If you do not want/need the higher overdrive ratio, buy an RTO14613 - it will be 100% bolt in place of your current RTO14609 - it will just need a new shifter knob and a couple air lines. No new drive lines, mounts, etc.

Not sure how I gave bad advise here??? I was going off of what I was seeing done/performed at the shop I worked at... I also did not mention that ALL conversions are super expensive, or at least did not mean to perpetuate that. Admittedly, prior to making that post, I had not read EVERY post submitted in the thread. (I have learned to do that).
