NV doesn’t have any permanent weigh stations. They only have check stations and they’re not open on a consistent basis.
I’m not even sure where you’d get on the frontage road at to get past the scale at
Have you given any thought to just hiring a drive away company and having it delivered? They could run everything on their permits. It would save you burning extra fuel and wasting time zig zagging around.
Best route Minneapolis to Reno in December

Driveaway company will cost more. Anyway, I know where to get on the frontage road, and since it's the same alignment, there is no extra fuel or mileage. Also, that unit is still geared for 58 mph and wouldn't save anything on regular I-80.Lepton1 Thanks this.

You’re going to draw less attention to yourself if you just drive right past the scale on 80 than you will being a random bus driving on the frontage road a few hundred feet south of the scale.
There’s a ton of different ways to get from Minneapolis into SD without crossing the scale at the border on 90. So from Rapid City...
South on 79
West on 18
South on 85/18
North of Lusk go west on 270 toward Lance Creek
270 will curve south and bring you out at Manville.
West on 18 to I-25 to Casper then cut down to Rawlings on 80.
At Evanston go north on 89 (turns to 16 in UT)
West on 30 to Garden City
West/south on 89 to Logan then west on 30 to I-15 north of Tremonton
I-84 west to Snowville
West on 30 out through Park Valley, turns to 233 at the NV border
Get back on 80 west at Oasis NV
There’s the easiest route with zero scales.Swadian, Lepton1 and Truckermania Thank this. -
Just go the shortest and fastest rout middle of the night on chrismas eve and Christmas... Nothing will be open.

Will I have to go through scales on US 14 if I take that from MN to Rapid City? A map shows 2 scales on 14 at Wolsey and east of Pierre.
Between Casper and Rawlins is it better to take WY-220 and US-287 or WY-487 and US 30?
At Evanston how about Chalk Creek Road to rejoin I-80 at Coalville and head west from there? May need to take US 6 at Santaquin to US 50 at Delta to Reno to get around Wendover. -
Download the TruckerPath app. It will show what scales are open. The one at Wolsey is just a spot to set up portables I believe. The one at the junction east of Pierre is hit or miss when it’s open.
220/287 out of Casper is the best way.
Chalk Creek Rd isn’t paved all the way across. I wouldn’t go that way in the winter. Going thr way I mentioned from Evanston is the best way to get around the UT scales this time of year. -
