Hello everyone- I am taking my CDL class A driving test in a few days here. I already have a class B CDL and am proficient with a trailer so no worries about the skills test, but I am worried about the pre-trip.
When I took my B class test a few years ago the lady was really nice, but was asking a ton of questions I did not know during the pre trip despite having studied the pretrip inspection guide and could #### year recite the thing word for word. Going back now for the class A I am wondering how the pretrip factors in to the overall test. Does not knowing a few things allow them to fail me? Am I just being paranoid here? Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Ah... just a little healthy paranoia. It's good to study, but to worry is useless. Feel comfortable driving...? Good, but don't take that for granted either. Good luck.

Go to you tube and type in CDL pretrip inspection, there are several great training videos there. Look for the one's that says part one and part 2, and part three. Part two and three are the actual pretrip. Helped me out a lot.

If you know your stuff (sounds to me like you do) from the book, you'll do fine. They can't expect you to know things that are not in their book. If you get asked any questions outside of the book, just tell them you don't know right now but will darn sure find out.
Be confident, YOU earned the right to take and pass your test.
