I screwed up big time. I was heading to North Carolina from Texas in my personal vehicle and was 30 minutes from getting to where I was going. Getting to see family for the first time in a couple years thanks to trucking but I screwed up. I was driving in the mountains and the speed limit was 55mph and was coming out of a really slow area with curves and coming into a nice clearing so I kind of...gunned it. Well this is a new car and even though I just drove about 1700 miles in it, I still wasn't used to how quickly and quietly it gets up to speed. No one was around me and before I knew it I was at 80mph and came up over a hill where there was a state trooper coming the other way. His lights came on almost as soon as I saw him. So I pulled off and waited for him to pull in behind me cause I knew I was ####ed. He ended up writing me a ticket, obviously, and who can blame him. So now I'm sitting on a 25 over ticket knowing that I just put a barrel of an 8 gauge into the mouth of my career and proceeded to pump buckshot into it. I plan on taking a look at Drivers Legal Plan and a few other lawyers to see what they say but I'm told they can longer downgrade it to non-moving violation or whatever it is they do. It's either dismissed or not. Even if I do fork up the money for a lawyer which I undoubtedly will fork up as much as I have to, they might not be able to do anything with this level of speeding. I'm lucky he didn't write me up for wreckless driving. . Yes I am an idiot yes I know. I'm an owner operator leased to a company which my truck is finaced through a dealership that said company owns. They're a large company, considered a Mega among truckers, and they aren't extremely strict on tickets but with 25 over, I don't think there will be any hesitation on cutting me from the team. Until I talk to legal teams I am just coming here to get bombarded by other truckers to tell me how retarded I am for driving like that.
I think I just committed career suicide, ticket 25 over the limit

Fight the hell out of it. Talk to a LOCAL lawyer in that jurisdiction. Don’t waste money or take chances on a maybe from a legal plan.
Local lawyers and Judges know each other. An outside attorney will come in at a disadvantage from the word go.
Explain to the lawyer what this ticket REALLY means to your livelihood. If you’ve got an otherwise clean record. Judges can make things happen for you. Good and bad.
It cost the hell out of me, and I was innocent. But what are you going to do? It’s your word against the officers. Money talks BS walks.

I got a similar ticket taken care of by using a local lawyer who specialized in traffic tickets. Cost me a few hundred bucks, but he made it go away, no points on my license.
Rideandrepair, Roteck and Chinatown Thank this.
