I'm in my 4th week of a 9 week CDL school now along with a friend. My friend calls a few trucking co's today to find out if they hire students. After asking my friend what school he attends the recruiter says that he cannot find us on the list of school's approved by the National Trucker's Association!! Does this mean I'm wasting my money on a Mickey Mouse certificate that's worthless?? The instructor is very good and has 30 yrs experience as well as a college degree. Just don't want to waste my time if there will be no chance of getting hired. Thanks for any input. :biggrin_2555:

Doesn't matter what school you go to . There are too many graduates as well as experienced drivers applying for jobs . Chances are your CDL will be worthless in a few months . Just keep reading new posts here . More and more members can't find jobs . The ones that do get hired cry they have to wait 3 to 5 weeks without pay for a truck , then cry they spend more time waiting for loads than driving .

Aren't you the optimistic one!! There is a place for GOOD QUAILITY people in many businesses including trucking I'm sure. Like a recruiter told me the other day you can either play video poker at the Truck stops and make $200 a week or be efficient and on-time and make $850. There is a choice for good quality employees with a squeeky clean record and a good work ethic!!:biggrin_25525:

Ask all the members here complaining they are only getting 1,000 miles a week and hanging around truckstops if they are doing it by choice . I'm not talking about newbies either . I'm talking about experienced drivers . Just about the only ones getting 3,000 miles a week are teams that used to get 5,000 .

If you would spend less time typing and more driving you might get something accomplished. Looks as though this site is for mostly WHINERS and CRYBABIES like you RICKY G. Where did u get that name from? Sounds like a RAP artist I once heard!!:biggrin_2553:

I'm not whining , I'm warning anybody with sense to listen . Tell you what . I'm going to watch and see what you accomplish in the next 6 months . Just FYI I just took 2 weeks vacation paid at $900 a week .

Just google ptdi. I mean why get it from me...? I want to believe that somewhere in this great country, student drivers are being hired. "Persistance meets resistance" someone here said a while back. But I think that Rick's take on this is spot on. The economy is in the tank and the trucking industry is experiencing a substancial downturn. If you want to drive, then complete your school, fill your aps, and hope for the best. But do so with full knowledge of of the big picture being painted here, that's all. Good luck.

Yes I'll be certain to post my every move RICKY G so you can critique me. You couldn't make $900 a month buddy because your too busy typing and NOT DRIVING!! I't's folks like you who cause the huge turnover in trucking. Like I said before I'm certain that I can make it in the industry because like the "Bear" once said "I ain't never been nothing but a WINNER". Chow Rickster
