JBHUNT Ruined my career and DAC.

Got my DAC from USIS, there are no Dollar amounts listed with incidents

 

Nothing personal againt the Original poster but do any drivers take responsiblity for RUINING their own careers...I know there are bad companys out there but Good Lord it can not always 100% of the time be the company is out to get you....Some of this must have been brought on by ones self..

 

bieng that I used to work for a big company, I know they intimidate people, as in this instance, he barely bumped the gate, if he wasnt scared out of his mind that JB would fire him, he probably would've done what i would've done, talked to the owner of the gate, he woulda said " Hey no problem, I'll get my welder out here" I wouldve offered to weld it for them, and went on my merry way to pick up another load. But instead JB says- IF YOU DONT TELL US EVERYTIME YOU LET THE SLIGHTEST LITTLE FART OUT....... YOU'RE FIRED!!!!!!!! So He is fired anyway. Shoulda kept quiet. Right??

 

You have to follow the policy. Having much experience with customers I can tell you they will act one way with you and on the phone reading the riot act to your employer 10 minutes after you leave.

I had a trainee who busted a tire and bent a rim on a jersey barrier in Ohio that cost around $300 to fix. I knew the company was going to can him if I called it in so suggested that he pay for it out of pocket. He was someone I thought would make a good driver and worth saving. He did not believe they would fire him over it because it was just a tire. So I called it in so I could get the po for the TA and the company told me to drop my trailer and put him on a bus home. He just sat there in disbelief all the way to the grey dog.

 

Yeah, You are right. I havent pulled a dry van for a big outfit in a while, but, Remembering back they had way to many eyes and ears (Company Drivers) to do anything wrong.

 

I was supposed to go to orientation in two days, but after reading yours and others experiences with JB hunt I'm not so sure its a good idea . Are there any good companies out there anymore?

 

I have no Idea about JB, I just know that most big companies are quite similar, in there scare tactics. They want you to believe you are not worthy of working for anyone but them, and they do a good job of it. But, Where else is a guy going to get experience, smaller companies are on a strict Diet with there insurance companies to keep the rate reasonable, because they are struggling.
If you have read any other threads on this board, you would know that there are alot of people, with no experience like you, who cant find a job, the way this economy is, I would probably Go to JB, MIND YOUR P's and Q's, and when the economy gets better, hopefully you will have enough time to get a good job, with someone small.

 

Yeah , there are good companies but they are cutting back too and none of their drivers are giving up jobs voluntarily . The carriers know they have to make cuts and they are warning about violations that will result in termination . They don't cut people slack like they used to . Get a ticket in a construction zone , you're gone . Logs don't match fuel tickets or scale tickets ? First offense , suspension . Second offense termination . When they let drivers go they make it look like the driver did it to himself .
Failing to report an "incident" is tricky . With a tanker you are supposed to report anytime ANY liquid is spilled , even a cupful . But spill half a gallon and tell a receiver you are filing a report ....No way , especially if they have been that route before . They don't want to take the time corporate safety requires with an investigation .

 

I've been driving for 9 yrs. so I don't need any experience. I have just went around reading alot more postings and have not seen anything positive yet about jb. I was going in for the IC position but so far all I see is negative input. I know and you all know that the trucking industry is and always has had more than its share of whiney tittie babys, I know I've done it too. But when I keep reading about drivers having the same problems its starts getting hard to ignore.
