Nothing personal againt the Original poster but do any drivers take responsiblity for RUINING their own careers...I know there are bad companys out there but Good Lord it can not always 100% of the time be the company is out to get you....Some of this must have been brought on by ones self..

ok let me put it this way.....i had 2 incidents with Jbhunt....the first1 wasnt my fault....i was making a turn and an O/O decided he could not wait for traffic and decided to use me as a shield....well by doing so he cut my turning radius in the middle of my turn and was totally not even supposed to be out there....he ran into the side of my container and lodged his rs mirror into my container....my overall explanation to jbhunt was how can i drive and control my truck and at the same time prevent him from hitting me....if someone is going to hit you thats what they are going to do...hit you!....i cant babysit him and everyone else out on the road...all i can do is keep my truck in control and keep an eye on whats around me....this O/O wasnt in my sight when i decided it was clear to make the turn...therefore getting the big picture i was clear to go....he bolted out of the driveway to try and beat the traffic...or...otherwise have to wait...to make matters worse he did not speak english....now i dont know about you but if someone cant speak english chances are they cant read it either....and if you cant read signs and obey traffic laws in a country that has primarily english traffic laws and signs then you are the most dangerous driver out on the road...PERIOD!!!...this last incident was mine.....i owned and reported it per Jbhunt policy or you will be terminated....well for my honesty and integrity Jbhunt rewarded me with a pink slip per say....had i not reported i.e. LIED and tried to put it in on another driver or deny the incident all together id probably still have a job....if you haul a 53ft container local in Los Angeles youd know what im talking about....to be incident free anywhere from a bump into a yellow post or major traffic accident is impossible....ive been all over the country and have been in the worst weather known to man and came out unscathed...and its not by luck its by skill as a driver....you cant be lucky 100% on the 70 or 80 year round....it requires skill to stay out of harms way and not to mention good judgement...so to answer your ?...Jbhunt is a company known for screwing the driver during and after employment...if you drive for jbhunt it is there mindset that after you no longer drive for them they make the decision on whether or not you ever drive for anyone else....and from a business standpoint you are one less driver available for the competition after they are done with you....i see your point but its not so cut and dry when it comes jbhunt and im not the type of man that puts things on the company at all times.

You have to follow the policy. Having much experience with customers I can tell you they will act one way with you and on the phone reading the riot act to your employer 10 minutes after you leave.
I had a trainee who busted a tire and bent a rim on a jersey barrier in Ohio that cost around $300 to fix. I knew the company was going to can him if I called it in so suggested that he pay for it out of pocket. He was someone I thought would make a good driver and worth saving. He did not believe they would fire him over it because it was just a tire. So I called it in so I could get the po for the TA and the company told me to drop my trailer and put him on a bus home. He just sat there in disbelief all the way to the grey dog.Drive-a-Mack Thanks this. -

I was supposed to go to orientation in two days, but after reading yours and others experiences with JB hunt I'm not so sure its a good idea . Are there any good companies out there anymore?

If you have read any other threads on this board, you would know that there are alot of people, with no experience like you, who cant find a job, the way this economy is, I would probably Go to JB, MIND YOUR P's and Q's, and when the economy gets better, hopefully you will have enough time to get a good job, with someone small. -
Failing to report an "incident" is tricky . With a tanker you are supposed to report anytime ANY liquid is spilled , even a cupful . But spill half a gallon and tell a receiver you are filing a report ....No way , especially if they have been that route before . They don't want to take the time corporate safety requires with an investigation . -
I've been driving for 9 yrs. so I don't need any experience. I have just went around reading alot more postings and have not seen anything positive yet about jb. I was going in for the IC position but so far all I see is negative input. I know and you all know that the trucking industry is and always has had more than its share of whiney tittie babys, I know I've done it too. But when I keep reading about drivers having the same problems its starts getting hard to ignore.
