Wrong. You are not in violation unless you DRIVE without hours available. You can work on line 4 as much or as long as you want or need to and never be in violation...provided you get the appropriate break prior to clibing behind the wheel again to drive.

That's interesting. I was instructed (when the rule went into effect) that a 30 minute break (offduty or sleeper berth status) was required within or by the 8th hour after coming onduty.

 

Everything I can find says after 8hrs of driving. I evden mocked up my KT app to see what it says and doesnt show a violation.

 

And thats correct to a point. The 8 hour break clock starts once you come on duty. You can work striaght for 24 hours without needing a break so long as you dont drive. if you haven't had a break before that 8th hour you cant DRIVE after the 8th hour, until you have the break .

 

Well u can work as long as u want u just cant drivwr, u could work work 100 hours and violate every 30 min break and 70 hr rule but as long as u dont go to drive time u havent violated anything

 

Yeah, I got it. I'm personally not effected by it one way or the other in my operation, I don't ever need to remain onduty (not driving) in that kind of scenario anyways.

 

If you don't think you're in violation....you're probably in violation.

If you aren't sure if you're in violation.....you're certainly in violation.

If you get checked out and they feel like ticketing you then they'll find a violation.

Wrong! You can be on duty forever... You cant drive untill you taken a 30. So if u drive 7 hrs than on for 2 hrs of on duty at a receiver you can still take your 30 than and you be good to drive out the reminder of you 11/14 with out a violation. Same goes for your 10 hr.. You can have driven 11 hrs foe thw day. Be at receiver for 6 hrs of on duty... Than take a 10 hr brake and will still be compliant.
