I would have to think it would depend upon how regional your carrier is. I dont see that many true OTR carriers that often.

That’s funny you mention that. Remember when the market exploded 1100 pts last week. I caught it at the beginning. 100K went into TSLA and I sold it at 3:58pm. Made 10% or 10K in 7 hrs. I was super excited but on the other hand I don’t trust the market. So I’m in and out quick!
I’m not a golden spoon child, I drove for that fat bank account. Actually, I drive a lot. Christmas, thanksgiving, New Years... I’m driving because eventually there will be a time that I want to take a year or so off and sit on the beach and do nothing! A company doesn’t own me, they might think they do BUT they don’t.

Personally I never got the "I dont do short runs thing." I take what's given. If we're both sent a 400mi run, I take it and go. By the time you're done arguing with dispatch for a longer run I'm 200miles down the road. I like the long runs too, but I'd rather be rolling then arguing with dispatch. I've had weeks with nothing but "short" runs and gotten 3000+ miles, and I've had weeks with one long run, then another but it doesn't deliver until after pay cutoff so stuck with 2000mi for the week.

Good point. I’ve been born and raised since 2003 that longer is better. I guess I just like riding.

I found that short runs could be just as productive AS LONG AS they kept you running and not sitting at the dock. If you have two hours sitting at a dock you've lost about $62 (back in my days there: 50 cents a mile at 62 MPH for two hours). So dock time is costly compared to driving. Short run dock time is the key. Keep it down and short runs can be productive. If long runs have excessive delivery times then what have you accomplished there? Yeh you make good money driving but then you sit for a day so you've lost over $300 (.50x62 MPH for 10 hours). It's tit-for-tat when comparing short runs Vs. long runs. Keep in mind the other variables. It all comes back to the old adage; "if the wheels ain't turning, you ain't earning"
