Millis Transfer, Inc. - Black River Falls, Wi.?

I am going to millis school on May/4/2009 any thoughts on what to expect?

 

Yes - Expect the unexpected.

Its great, the instructor is great, the other drivers are friendly and informative.
Everything is as they say. The pay has been reduced from $700 to $600 for the end of the training period but thats still higher than any of the others and a much better company than most.

If you have questions go ahead and ask, there are a few of us here on the forum currently at the Ohio sKoOl.

Also, Spanky is a wealth of knowledge and information. He's an excellent person to ask questions. He's like the 'encyclopedia Millis'. If you look back at his posts you'll probably find answers to most of your questions.

hey blu....Im sure someone out there is hiring although its slim pickins right now best of luck to all the newbies although it amazes me we spend our time getting the training and experiance but we have a hard time getting into the companies maybe i should give up my cdl say im a newbie and go back to school etc... so i can get a better job although i know i wouldnt like the pay cut...well i guess ill just stay where im at this company is better than no company at all

 

Yeah, its seems to be pretty tough out there these days - (For now) Its GOT to get better.

Another good one for questions is SRICK773. My memory was refreshed today when he stopped by the terminal (Where the school is also located). He just got into his own truck in December after going through the GA school.

He has a lot of helpful posts and he will usually answer your questions.

 

I called 3 days ago and they said they were not hiring for anything, there were no trucks available.

 

I don't believe they are hiring experienced drivers. However I'm just a student so don't take my word for it, thats just the info I keep getting.

 

i was told a few weeks ago about only hiring students so that could have changed by now though.

 

I got my date moved up to April 6 2009 to start at Millis training school. I just hope i get through the training first and get a job there second. any one know what happens on day 1 and the rest of the training course?

 

The first day is all paperwork and boring stuff.

The second day is a little better. Basically, the first week you're in class.
The first Friday we were out bobtailing around the property to get the feel of shifting, etc...

The second week is when it speeds up.

There is a lot to learn in a short time. Yesterday was our second Monday - we were out on the road all day.
