And the whole time you drove it, you never wondered why you didn't have to add DEF?

Unfortunately it looks like it was a necessity because of some O/Os who are running gliders who try to run older model engines so they can get around the ELD rule and run paper logs.

The egr valve, the egr cooler, and the ecm were each app. $2,000 = $6,000. Plus labor for both the diagnostics, programming the new ecr, and installation = $10,000

I’m not mechanically inclined, so didnt know that the egr stuff was part of the epa clean air act stuff or that the clean air act requires it be sold in working condition or that i had a cause of action against the dealer at that point.

Had i known that, i would not have paid the $10,000 to fix it. I would have started the legal process sooner.

Did the KW dealer i towed it to, articulate the problem in such a manner which took advantage of my lack of mechanical knowledge? I’ll never know that.

**At 4:55 p.m. today, my atty advised me of a settlement agreement, with the dealer, which i agree to. It may take a few days to finalize it.

A forced regen wasnt considered because the regen system didn’t appear to be the problem and may not have been possible.

The truck low coolant alarm was coming on, even after the sensor had been relplaced. The truck was not over heating though.

Coolant was dumping into or from or through the egr cooler and the exhaust system. I would stop at a light and tons of steam was coming out of the exhaust.

Enough steam to block an entire intersection. Im sure people thought my truck was fully engulfed in fire. It was dangerous to other motorists.

For crying out loud not all ramps are unsafe? Do y'all not strech out every minute of your day when you need to? Perhaps some of y'all just don't run that hard. My 2 cents. (yes I can trip plan). Now please leave your running lights on if you do choose a ramp.

Mtn Gal and IndianaF150 Thank this.

Does the truck use DEF now? What did the attorney say about that?

I have a similar set up however i just drive at that speed no problems mine will give me a bit more i was doing 12 km p/h which is around 6 mph still left me on resting time then pulled up why would you want to be driving any faster at a truck stop anyway? Sitting on a ramp and resting is not legal the authorities (police) only tolerate it as they would rather have you resting then driving fatigued, however if your parked on an off ramp or an on ramp and someone collides with your vehicle then that tolerance will vanish very quickly when i drove tractors in the US i used to see this all the time and used to think of how dangerous it was parking there so bad almost back on the freeway in fact many times i could not exit the freeway because of the parked trucks which was careless to say the very least if I needed to pull up i'd try and find a Walmart and park there making sure i went in and bought something so i could say i was actually a customer and made sure i parked way down the back out of everyone's road even if it was 2am in the morning. Never once got asked to leave and was always gone by 7am anyway.
