Is there a way to work for uhaul that requires you to drive one of there trucks on a regular basis? Is it possible to switch from part-time to full-time after awhile of being at the company?

Yes, U-Haul hires full time drivers to move trucks from various locations to other locations.
For example, a location that's popular for people to move to will have an excess of trucks, so they need to move them to locations that are short of trucks. Could be across the state or across the country.

You are still in a moving truck that can potentially have a piano to deliver to the 5th floor. He he he. Thats something I wont do.

The last you haul box truck (*26 foot) failed it's airbrake primary and secondary compressor when I took possession of it. I turned it back in saying that thing is OOS until the compressor is replaced. The rental man had to go out and do his own test which duplicated mine. Whatever works for him.

I don't think that bigger box truck with airbrakes got rented to people with car licenses. Least I hope not.

I don't know which is better. The moving truck will be loaded with household goods and the U-Haul might have some supplies going from one U-Haul center to another or more than likely empty. Maybe pull an empty U-Haul trailer behind it that's also being transferred somewhere where there's a shortage of equipment.
One good positive about moving companies is, you may have the opportunity to eventually drive big rigs hauling household goods.
Schneider has a box truck division.

Schneider Box Truck jobs are on their website under "Straight Truck Driving Jobs."
    Don't need a CDL.

A couple of weeks ago a JB Hunt straight truck delivered appliances to my neighbor. They rolled in the new appliance, installed it and then roll away the old one. I guess that’s their final mile service.

U-Haul shuttlers start at about $12 an hour near me.

There is no wage progression at U-Haul. You get a raise if they deem you worthy. If you don't "bleed U-Haul brown", you aren't worthy.

None of U-Haul's trucks require a CDL to operate.

If you want a shuttler job, you might look at Penske. They have cdl trucks, a back a few years ago when I was checking them out their starting pay was higher than U-Haul.
