This company will probably hire you. You'll be running teams to California and back. Stick with this company a few months and other opportunities will be available. It's a good 2nd chance company for drivers with serious tickets like you have.

 

Call and ask for Julie at UPSF in Gaffney and tell her your situation with the ticket, we are pretty desperate for city and road drivers also have openings for dockworker with CDL...

 

I live in Charlotte and would run wherever I’m needed, but running to California and back once a month would be a main goal. My daughter lives out there with her dad and th costs of visiting are too much to maintain. I considered trucking previously but chose not t pursue it because I still had my daughter in my care. I do not have any money to pay to get the CDL. Does this seem like I may be able to make something work?

 

That will probably work. Sometimes living on the east coast it's hard to get regular California runs as a solo driver. Teams probably wouldn't work for you because the other driver may not want to take time for you to visit your daughter.
Which city is she in?
Is it feasible for you to relocate to a state that borders California?
One of the Magnum Ltd. drivers said that company may be working toward some California runs and they're mostly solo. They have a terminal in North Carolina also.
The state might pay for private cdl school through the WIOA Program. Google : WIOA Program North Carolina.

 

KLLM Transport in Mississippi has their own cdl school and I've seen ads in California for drivers.
Check there for schooling and a job.

 

Danny Herman Trucking hires from private cdl schools and has two facilities in southern California. You'd probably get California runs a couple of times a month or at the very least once a month. This company might be your best bet for more California runs.

 

It will benefit you because you have a clean record and know how to negotiate city traffic.
