This post reminds me of my Grandpa. He loved Ford Crown Victoria cars, but he always bought new and traded them before they had any miles on them. The old trucks are trustworthy and have proven they run the distance. Get a new truck and you start hearing stuff like oh ya I got 200,000 miles and still running like a champ!! Love this truck!!! Ok lets compare apples to apples. Who runs a emission truck with 800,000 miles that has done well for them?? I dont know where they are but I haven't heard much from them
Are the newer trucks really that bad, no longevity anymore?

250 miles and the oil still being clear isn't saying anything, my old cat will go 1,000 or so and stay pretty clean yet.singlescrewshaker Thanks this.

I don’t think anyone is trying to force any of you guys to buy a new truck. Some people prefer newer, some prefer older. We get it. This circular argument has been had many times on this forum.

I've always heard the series 60 was the dirtiest of the bunch, & my oil also stays golden for about the first 2k miles. It does have 2 full flow filters & a bypass though..

Our fleet is Volvo’s with d13s. The most common problems are radiators and idler pulleys. Haven’t heard of anyone having to even do a regen.

I guess I meant that as dirty on the inside? As in they will blacken the lube oil quickly.. At least that's what my ex- mechanic said, emphasis on the EX..
Out the stacks, she's pretty clean. Only a slight haze when you hammer down for about 1 second till the turbo catches up.. Nothing like that Mack video..
MACK E-6 Thanks this.
