As a company driver, what are my best options for A/C power. The company i will be working for states i can have up to a 1700w inverter. Do i have other options? Will a 1700w invert be enough power for a computer (non laptop) and fridge to run on?

What is an APU and is a viable option?

It should run the fridge and laptop, APU isn't something you would want to do on someone else's truck.

Anything over a few hundred has to be wired to the battey set.

What size power supply do you have in your 'puter? I imagine it isn't over 1KW (1000 watts). If so, then the 1700 Watt inverter will run it. In fact, I'm willing to bet it will run the puter and the monitor. I'm assuming you have an LCD monitor.

that's a hell of a box! i never tried the water cooling. You must be doing some serious gaming/overclocking. or is that some fancy wire management?

rofl those spec lists pop up in the funniest places.

i'm thinking of building a new barebones box with pretty much just the mobo, vidcard, and hd to try and keep the power req's minimal as inverters aren't allowed in our company trucks. you know how it goes... one ####### burns up his truck rewireing his inverter and now nobody's allowed to have one.

Haha its like having a big truck for some guys. Bragging rights for the nerds.

The place im gonna be working for has a 1700w limit and as long as you buy the stuff they will install it for free. I would say get a mini ATX mobo with a built in graphics cards. I can recommend some if you'd like. Also, Western Digital has a green power line that use low power, or you can spend the $$$ and get a SSD drive, but ive read they dont use much less power than a WD green power drive. They also make small cases for mini atx boards that take a smaller psu. It will help save space.
