I completely agree with what you just said. It's totally true. We are looking at the same thing and arriving at similar conclusions. You see the limitations right out of the box and you see those being a crippling Factor and I see those same limitations and see them as a temporary problem that can easily be overcome. I look at the potential of something for what it could be and not for what it is at the moment. We have two different ways of thinking.

 

Is a radio performing the way you like it to perform the same as a radio performing the way it's supposed to perform?

 

How much skip could a Connex talk if a Connex could talk skip? Wasn’t Dirty Harrry standing there at the end of the movie holding a multimeter saying “a man’s got to know his limitations?”

That’s an incredible price for a new FT450D. The only problem I could see is trying to use this radio mobile, especially for the CB band

1. It would be too big and not user-friendly to operate.

2. It only puts out 25 W a.m. so you still have to use an external amplifier, and therefore an additional expense. Unless you only operate SSB.

That’s not going in a truck so theres not really an install thread. I tested it out the other day and talked Skip on my first contact. I need to route some coax, raise the Imax up a little more, and I’m putting the ground plane kit on when it comes in this week. That power supply is noisy, so I’m going to use a MegaWatt since I have used them with good luck in the past.
