so my license is expiring in a couple of months. Service Ontario sent out the renewal and instructed to bring in the application and complete a vision test and a written acz test. What does the written test entail? Has anyone written the test lately? Thanks

Same written test(s) as when you first got your license. Signs, air brakes and general knowledge.
terryg247 Thanks this. -
Just go go any Drive Test centre, show them your license and tell them you're there to do your written Tests for AZ test for your license renewal.
Here's a link where you can find the closest one to you: Find a DriveTest Centre
There are a bunch of free online resources you can use to study if you need a refresher or if you prefer books, just go to any Drive Test centre above and ask for the official MTO learning handbooks for AZ drivers. (There's two of them, one for general info, one for airbrakes) -
Just don't fail
I heard at the counter of knowledge if you do there is a 180 day waiting period to re-test -
I think you can rewrite it that same day if you do when you’re already there no?
-
Alas, I think the counter of knowledge has claimed another victim. According to this wesite, failure on initial examination results in a 10-day waiting period, so I would be very surprised if it is not the same for a retest

if passing a test is what stands between you and your chosen career, why would you not crack open the truck drivers handbook and air-brake handbook and start reading ? you said you've got a couple of months, how much time do you need to learn stuff you should know by working in that field to begin with ?
truck drivers are so freaking lazy, and stupid -
I did the z written test a little while back and it was pretty easy. I remember some of the questions like "At what PSI should the low air warning come on" or "What color is the trailer supply line". Just basic stuff I'm pretty sure if you have been paying attention while driving you will figure it out. A test is mixed signs and rules, some tractor trailer questions. My brother did his A written test a while ago and said there was more G license questions than A license questions...

It's the wording that screws me up on these tests. "Supply line". Red? Supplies air to release spring side of brake ? I know how it works but my sister is the english major.
-
100% agreed on that, I failed the first time 15/20 and passed the second time 19/20. The wording sounds so off, you're certain it's one answer but it's the other.gokiddogo Thanks this.
