How come from what i know and have seen do trucks with manuals say to "never coast in neutral" but my automatic cascadia shifts to neutral every chance it gets?

It is because the auto has no problem going back into gear, but frequently it is difficult for a driver to get a manual back into gear when coasting on a down grade.
But, I do agree with that the auto should not shift into neutral either.

I am not positive on this, but I believe that there is something to do with lubrication not being the same when the tail shaft is spinning, but the transmission is in neutral. Perhaps someone with more knowledge will chime in and correct me, or at least explain it a little better.

The real question is, will it be an automatic failed road test if the automatic shifts going over a RR crossing. ;)

Yes I know the answer. No it’s not applied equally across the country.

Problem with puttin it in the ol Georgia Overdrive in a manual is that if something goes wrong, and you can't get it back into gear, you are ####ed, and will be riding burning brakes all the way to the scene of the wreck.
Presumably, the auto can sense when things are going sideways, and can put er back into gear when it still can.

I prefer to have a manual mode to enforce a selected gear. Otherwise get me a manual truck.

Because automatics are retarded. That said, I overdrive... A lot.

The AMTs are not truly going into neutral. It is disconnecting the output shaft while the transmission is still in gear. Same effect as neutral but it isn’t neutral.

the auto will re-engage the correct gear if the truck goes 5 to 7 miles an hour over the cc setting..
