Does this engine have anything to do with the D16 Volvo? If so, this engine will be a real head turner.

I wish I could get a better look at that thing. The picture doesn't do it justice.

I saw one at the MATS and looked at the engines on display they were identical to the Volvos no more two head Mack engines.I also saw that Paccar is comming out with it`s own engine too.Does anyone think Cummins and Cat will be going the way of the dinosaur?
-
I don't think that cummins will be going by the wayside. If you look closely at the three smallest engines that PACCAR offers you will see that they are just rebranded Cummins engines. They are ISB, ISC, and the ISL. I believe that they are offering two more engines. A 13 liter and a 16 liter. I may have seen the 13 liter and the 16 liter. I don't know I was in a rush and I didn't see any badging on them that told me exactly what they were. I am glad to see that more manufactures are not giving up and or coming up with engines to meet emission specs. It give the consumer more choices.

In past Titans, the top factory offering was with the Signature 600 Cummins with 2050 ft lbs of torque. The new engine ups this by 5 horsepower and 10 ft lbs.
I saw one of those in a heavy hauler Mack Titan at a Clear Lake, IA truckstop. Previous Titans had the V-8 mack E-9, and some of those, heavily modified, had as much as 2000 horsepower, if you believe what has been published about them. They set records with them in the land down under.Donk Thanks this. -

It looks like Volvo and Mack are serious about being in the truck market, and hopefully can come up with a winning combination to combat the EPA monster.
I saw a somewhat better picture of the new Titan, and it looks SHARP!
Of course I was always partial to Macks. -
Volvo have just brought out the D16G which is rated at 700hp and produces 2332ft/lbs of torque. It`s only availble in Europe at the moment but with North America going to SCR tecnology in 2010 i wouldn`t be surprised if it was availble in a VT880 next year
-
it's supposed to be only avail with i-shift in the VT880 producing 700hp. theres a thread of it somewhere on here.
