Orientation is 2 full days spent in a classroom filling out paperwork and taking tests on computers mostly.
it went from 8am - 6pm or so the 1st day and 8am till 3pm the 2nd day.
Then you go back to the motel and wait for a trainer. Depending on your preferences you could get one an hour after finishing orientation or a few days. (for example if you are a non smoking girl who wants to run flatbed you are going to be waiting awhile
)
Then you have to drive 315 hours with the trainer (315 hours logged on line 3) and depending on what he runs determines how long you take to finish.
This entire processes took me about 10 weeks or so and that includes the paid week off I took. Then when you are done with training it takes a day or so to test out and get your truck and the day after you should get your first load. You might have to wait for a truck tho. Back in November when I got mine I didn't have to but I have no idea about the current situation.
As far as live load /unloading...... I have never had to do either (or heard of anyone doing it) in the 7ish months Ive been with them. Running dedicated family dollar is the only thing that requires the driver to live unload as far as I know.Git_R_Done and dragonmatrix Thank this. -
How thorough is the physical? What is blood pressure requirments? Are they gonna grab balls and give prostate exam? Do they draw blood?
-
The physical I took before school was quite thorough. The one I took at Werner was a joke. They do fondle the boys a little but thankfully stop short of a prostate exam and drawing blood.
For a two year medical card the BP requirements are 140/90 or lower. Over that and you will have to renew your med card every year or even as often as every three months.StrawberryWine_SC and Git_R_Done Thank this. -
Piece of cake. If you have a pulse you're in like Flint.

can anyone tell me the basics about werner refrigerated like how they treat you, where they run, the equipment, whats the set speed on trucks, and does werner refrigerated hire solos, is there a rider policy, and can you take the truck home. Thank you and be safe.

I run 48, after I finished training in Feb. I tested out and was sent on a recovery mission for a trruck. Still have it and love the truck. 07 Freightliner classic XL, Depending where you live determines wether you take your truck home or not and if theres a place to park a truck and trailer. I live in MN and about 60 miles away from their dropyard, so I was asked to grab an empty and go home. I did. The set speed on the trucks is 65, unless going down hill. its faster. If your an owner op. then theres not set speed but they still monitor it. The rider policy goes from when you get your own truck you can have a rider. Over 18 just need the proper forms filled and a small fee for insurance. under 18 down till 12 I think you need birth certificates and a bit more paperwork. Not sure about the solo thing but I imagine they do. As for the reefer, I am not sure but I think they would run the 48. I ve seen them all over.
dragonmatrix Thanks this. -

Jacob, you said 315 hours....I just went thru orientation a month ago in Omaha, and it was 300 hours. Did they increase it again?? Just curious...
I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but to be honest, unless you are pre-assigned to a dedicated route before you finish your training, you will wait for your own truck since 48 state division has no openings. Werner will want you to remain on the trainer truck well past your 300 hrs for the same trainee pay. Good luck all.
