Here is a link with a TON of information, YouTube videos, etc. It's for RVers, nomads, etc, not specifically for truckers but the information would be the same - mobile internet service.
    Mobile Internet Resource Center.

So I went to Verizon to check out that deal I mentioned before... but ended up adding a JetPack to my current phone plan for $25/mo.

I bought the JetPack out right for $200 instead of the $100 with two year contract... and I get “unlimited” data but only the first 15Gb is at full speed then drops to 600 kbps for the rest of the month. I wish it was then only “throttled as needed” like my iPhone but whatever.

So my personal main net connection is my iPhone and the JetPack is for my iPad and RM 740 and Apple TV... if I blow through my 15Gb at least I still have connectivity albeit slow... but if I start updating Apps or downloading a movie, I can start Driving and just let it do its thing.

I also has the same additional 15Gb on my iPhone that I can use as a Hot Spot if needed.

Seems worth it so far... I have a few bugs in my overall Tech Plan (ie casting from
iPhone to Apple TV) but I’ll work them out over the next week or so.

Oh, and I set up my Truck as a “Home” in my HomeKit setup too... just playing around with it but it might be fun to “watch” the mechanics should they ever poke their nose behind my cab curtain when it is in the shop... LOL

I had my settings for the lowest resolution. That still worked good for me and didn't kill my data plan I had with verizon at the time. My laptop was my screen.

I use my phone and an old jetpack. Sometimes I get lucky in rural low traffic areas with 40-60. Usually it's 150-200± during "off times". In the morning and when people get off work it's always laggy.

I wouldnt get a jetpack. Save the he price of another device/line to upgrade the primary device plan. Thinking of Verizon here.

I play Rust alot and it's a struggle on broadband. You can jump off a cliff, hit the ground, and then able to take 3 or 4 steps before you die. It should happen as soon as you hit the ground. Or when trying to peek around the corner and nail someone, they will see you and kill before you can even see them. Headshot first, and then hen they will appear just after your body hits the ground. 80% exercise in futility. :D

Just yesterday I read somewhere that Fortnite compromised a couple million user's security - sorry I didn't read the whole article and I don't remember where I read it, but you could google it if interested......

    Hey,
Does anyone know of how to get Unlimited Mifi with no throttling of my Data? I've been talking to AT&T, VERIZON, SPRINT, & T-MOBILE., but no one has real Unlimited data. I'm a gamer and can't game the way I really want to. Can anyone help???

My experience at Truck Stops is that their wifi is too slow to begin with and then when they add a couple dozen drivers at any one time, it just crawls. I even bought into their “premium plans” a couple times and it wasn’t much better. Maybe for email etc it’s fine... but streaming or updates? Nah... so gaming would be a nonstarter. (And I’m not a gamer but I can imagine their frustration as they require a very low delay vs streaming where one can have decent but slower speed but don’t need the quick interaction between people States away from each other)

I finally ended up with unlimited data (not speed) on my iPhone, iPad, and added a wifi hotspot... that’s working for me but again, I’m not a gamer.

I've stated before that I use a rooted android phone to tether by wifi without using up the 22 GB of tether data on verizon. The only downside is it has to go through a vpn in order to do this so if you want to update you can use this method and then just straight tether for lower ping while using metered data.
