UPS, what do they pay, and is this a good place for an O/O?

Being newer gives you a disadvantage is my understanding.
A lot of these guys have contacts they can call up that they have talked to 400 times in the last two years and are on first name basis in some cases. Call up "Paul" and ask if he has anything coming out of Pittsburgh in the next day or two. Or similar scenarios like that. They hear the name or voice of someone they have worked with multiple times, they are more inclined to loosen up and see if they have something that will work nearby.
That's sorta of what I was thinking about looking into. Some form of tablet to handle the paperwork and have DAT or something loaded up that constantly updates my searches.
Do you have any issues with new packet docs? From what I see when working with new companies, you have to go through the whole rigamarand of filling out a book and sending it back along with a named COI. Or can you handle all of that on your tablet too? instead of the printing, filling out, scanning, and finally sending it back. Because that just sounds like a pain in the ### -
Most brokers today use the online packet. Takes about 15 mins to get through it. Now not all of them will work with you.. some will and some require 6 months or better active.. just depends on who you talk to... again you gotta get on there and call them to find out..
No I do not have any issues with any documents on any app.. iPad works great for the DAT board and the scanner... -
I fill everything out via my iphone or iPad I did download adobe fill and sign I think it is called and I use that to fill out the packets and sign or initial the docs then I save everything to my google drive to ease of sending back to the brokers. My insurance agent is pretty quick to issue me a COI with the companies info added but I have a blank one to provide them with until I have it to give them.
We do have over 6 months so we only run into an issue when they require 1 year or they need to see we have A DoT inspection completed which we have never been pulled in and given a random so I don’t have any DOT inspections listed on my MC. But until you get six months there are still companies that will work with you. I’d get set up with TQL, Coyote, C.H. Robinson, Convoy, Uber Freight just to name a few that will work with you with limit time on your MC -
As a broker I just see what the customer has available and I tell them what I want to pickup.
