I read the entire employment agreement and it said nothing about surge pay, trust me...if it gets reduced after a year, I'll be walking away in a heartbeat

You said Monday through Friday so you must be on some kind of dedicated account like Dollar General. I don't see Werner paying .49 for OTR.
-
Yeah it's a dedicated account. Not a dollar account. They run Saturdays, but I intentionally rack up my 70 Mon through Friday because...well i like weekends offJC1971 Thanks this.

OTR should pay more in my opinion....you sacrifice much more time which has a greater price tag
LoSt_AgAiN Thanks this. -
Werner OTR starts at .38 a mile
Each fleet has its own pay rate and I’m guessing the guy getting .49 is probably driving an overnight reefer account. -
Yeah this is a question i often ask and wonder about too how is it one person will come out and really trash a company then others will reply "well we're really happy working here" or we know so and so and he / she is really happy working there. I just put it down to personal preferences its like some say no NYC i didn't have an issue with going to NYC in fact i loved the big lights etc etc, some want home time then wonder why their not getting many miles. The fact still remains though is, why do companies promise the world and then not deliver? And second why do drivers keep believing these false promises?Last edited: Jan 23, 2019

I totally agree with you. Ultimately it's up to the individual though, if they're happy then good for them, if they're not happy, then move on. Being happy at your job makes a huge differenceMisty60 Thanks this.

That is the biggest problem trying to move on to a new company, who do you beleive when they promise so much? That is one thing I can say about Werner, they didnt promise him the world, he was fresh out of school, well almost, he did do a few weeks training as a flat bed driver, and it just wasnt for him...he is not lazy, but when you get up in age, tarping was very hard on his body..next was Werner, he got his experience and now the miles and the pay just need to be better with 2 years exp and nothing on his record, no violations, no accidents, etc etc, now so many different company's, promising the moon, and so many complaints about it being far from that...I just wish they could be honest about what to expect, he has talked to one that was straight up about pay and ins, and it wasnt worth it to switch for .01 cpm more....I do appreciate all the insight I am getting from this forum...it is helping, and also letting me vent..so thx everyone

Your husband should have no problem getting a decent gig. Post where you are looking on a new thread and you’ll probably get some suggestions.
As far as his current pay, if he is training he gets the .38 on all miles with a student but should get a higher rate if he runs solo. Anyway, hopefully you find something that works better for you.Misty60 Thanks this.
