Yes. Sorry I did not mean to imply anything negative about that. Rates are down for sure, that's the game, but those Offer Rates on DAT are sometimes much lower than you can negotiate for is all I was trying to say. I remember seeing one up there last week for like 1.80/mi before Deadhead and ended up calling and getting it up over 2.30 including DH.

I don't have a specific number. I would say a few hundred dol on outbound Chicago loads pretty much everywhere. Back then getting 800 to Columbus, OH was a struggle and today you can still go there for 900-1000. Going to Dallas, TX still doable for 2000-2100 - back then 1600-1800, going to PA today you lucky to get 2000 but back then they would offer you 1500-1700 as far as Philadelphia. These are my own memories from the time I was starting to book loads.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Good, it’s time for a purge of all the people who had no business being out on their own who can’t even tell you what their costs are to run the truck. It’s late January, typical low rate cycle that happens every year that lasts into March. All it means to me is a flood of good used trucks hitting the market this year now that rates are returning to the average, lowering the cost of expanding.

Nice try. I already paid off the credit card. I only put it on there to get the reward points. I never carry a balance. If I wasn’t responsible with money I wouldn’t own my own truck and be able to spend a third of my time at home in my hot tub.tommymonza and Rideandrepair Thank this.

I defiantly could benefit from a Hot Tub.
tommymonza and Midnightrider909 Thank this. -
how much do you average per mile? I saw you said 2.54 is that bad for you?
-
$2.54/mile is plenty for us. The load I’m on now pays $3.14 but some are less. Shorter loads pay better.

Get a local shipper that has unusual freight and you can make $4.00 per mileMidnightrider909 Thanks this.

what is "unusual freight"
-
If you can buy the product anywhere, it's not unusual
