I paid $12,000 Cdn for EW4 on my 2016.
I think I'm close to even already.
Four days in shop for DEF pump, after treatment ECU. Another DEF pump. Another DEF pump.
A DEF heater line, a set of rubber seals where injector lines go into head. A set of injector cup seals.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
99% percent of the time extended warranty is not worth it, I assume you are getting at least 300000 or hopefully 400000 . and by then the manufacturing flaws will be exposed and fixed ... I have owned a few trucks and it's been my experience that the 300000 to 600000 mile range seems to have the least problems it takes 200000 most of the time to get the bugs out then when you are getting over 600000 stuff starts wearing out ..... if a new engine makes it to 300000 there's a really slim chance to blow it by 550000 but a new engine going to cost over 20k .... just like a lottery ticket most of the time it's not a good investment but every once in awhile it's a great move .... but I wouldn't spend the money

Run the cost of maintaining the emission system per the maintenance schedule. Then add the cost to replace the emission system out of pocket if it needed to be replaced before 550,000 miles. Then run the maintenance cost again, but this time instead adding the out of pocket cost to replace the emission system, insert the cost of the extended warranty. Which is cheaper?

There is a thread on here about the threaded piece that the oil filter screws on to coming out of a Detroit engine.
