No it’s not the normal engine kill. Will sure get some scratching their heads if you trip it before they try to start the engine lol.

 

You know, its interesting how Detroit Diesel got their share of the market going. Because of the high amount of debt and because they were basically the red headed step child of GMs industrial division, they partnered up with alot manufactures to get that 60 series out there.

So the owner of Penski involved, I think major share holder, owner or CEO. Then of the former engineers that helped design the K series Cummins was involved in the initial design phase....while in joint ventures with Deere, Volvo-Penta, Perkins, Mercedes-Benz. Then around late 90s DaimlerChrysler bought Detroit Diesel Corp.

I remember working at International, and during the late 90s early 2000s Navistar/international had a falling out with Detroit Diesel/DaimlerChrysler and you couldn't hardly even get a 60 series in an international because of freightliner. The entire Detroit Diesel Corp was kinda crazy it seemed.

 

No you need a Pink tool thru the window with a air wedge and a very fast hand. Or second person with a fast hand to pull handle quick. I promise it can be done if times right. Or use pink tool to open hood and put power to alt, battery or stud on starter or fuse pannel.

 

The engine kill on the Detroit powered Transtar I sold was an air cylinder. Fire the engine up, turn the key off and put it in your pocket it would keep running, till it got 40lbs of air then it would go to no fuel.

Roger Penske bought Detroit from GM. He is the reason there is a 60 series and even a Detroit today. Freightliner bought Detroit from him. Once they did, they refused to sell to any other manufacturer. It’s a shame it was a good motor and had a lot of fans. A lot of whom hate Freightliner products. More so than they like Detroit.
