What a needless tragedy. Mental illness is a terrible thing. A shame her friends and family couldn't have gotten her into a hospital more quickly. At 17 even with several years of inpatient treatment she could have been stabilized and hopefully led a productive life.

Same general type thing happened when I was a deputy. Husband and wife get into a verbal. She tells him, "you'll never see me again."
Jumps into her Datsun, gets out on SR 86, (in Salton City area in California,) and has a head on with a cabover hay truck. Witnesses said she was in her lane, but swerved into the oncoming lane to hit the truck. -
I've run across a couple like this. Years ago on SB I5 outside Olympia, WA, guy stepped in front of a COE KW. Some lady on the NB side saw it and caused a second wreck in front of us.
Another was a friend of mine heading NB on US 95 in his Cabover Pete when some guy decided life sucked too much and centerpunched Spook's grille in his Ford Ranger.
