My cousin used to drive for r+l, he said they were a good outfit but went on to FXF. There are definitely higher paying trucking jobs starting out than holland out there but I have a couple bad things on my mvr, all over 10 years old, but was turned down by a couple companies I put in applications for, saying thier insurance wouldn't insure me. Which was wierd because i was upfront with them and told them about it before applying to make sure I wouldnt get turned down for it. They said i was fine but then turned me down because of it. I am wondering if it will still affect getting hired if i were to one day leave holland, but have a few years of safe driving under my belt. There is a good possibility we may move out of IL but probably not for at least 5 years.

You should be ok with a good work record with Holland.

Not sure about today, but Holland was the only freight hauler that would pass me. I think they all had 72 mph trucks.

Been at Holland almost a year now. Glad I got in here when I did. Since we had a contract to vote on last April, I got hired on full pay right away once I finished my training. There is a sharp learning curve going from never driving a truck to doing 10-20 stops a day, but imo no better way to getting good at driving and backing a truck. I already have 3 guys under me in seniority and supposed to be hiring 4 more in the next months or so. With as many as 15 drivers leaving/retiring this year, I may even have a shot at a morning bid, 7am start, during our busy months. The drivers i trained with took 7-10 years to gain that kind of seniority. I love the ltl, glad to be home everyday, glad I didnt go otr, working some long hours 60+ hours some weeks. I made more this year than I ever have in my life, and didnt even work at all the month of January. With a 2nd child on the way, im glad to have this job, oh and the insurance is great too.
