I have purchased a updated Rand at the truckstop regardless of cost every year most of my time out here, it is a foundation. Other resources are availible now like here that did not exist back then.

I go the long way 27 North 287 to 70 West 25 North 287 to Laramie 80 West to 789 south thru baggs.co to 40 West into vernal. Longer yes but my preferred route .I have been all the others that's my winter route
kemosabi49 Thanks this. -
I usually decline I-70 in winter. Too many chances of chaining problems and screwups with the ski pack up there along with winter storms.

That trip up 191 in Utah is a fun ride

That's the way I would go. Ran tanker up to Vernal out of Tx quite a bit.
I ran up 191 off of U.S. 6 from Helper up to Duchesne on one of my trips to Vernal. 79,000#. Was a joy.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

I'm surprised no one suggested from Amarillo to 385 to 87 Dalhart on up to I-25. I took this route in January. Mostly flat with no really hard pulls.
If you need to connect to I-80 from Vernal, UT know that 191 will offer a scenic view which includes crossing over a dam, but those switchbacks coming out of Vernal heading north aren't much fun.
When I was there last, I parked on a dirt lot before delivering to Lowe's. The Chinese food place nearby had a decent buffet. Safe travels.Rudedud&Red Thanks this.
