So, I'm not sure what's going on anymore. I know Field has officially been upgraded to a white regulatory sign and made a full fledged brake check, which is just sooooooooooooo awesome.

My real issue is what the hell is with guys blowing these brake checks? Not so much field, but I was at 10mile last night going into Golden while the road was closed just after Golden, and 2 or 3 guys ran the brake check. Also seen it happen all the time at inks lake going into kamloops. Last time I ran 5 between Merrit and Kamloops I was almost run over by a 'New Canadian' driving through inks lake at 15kmhr right through the brake check not even stopping then continuing down the hill. I knew the safety guy at the company so he did get a call, but holy hell!

Now I stick clear of 5 between Kamloops and Merrit and run 5a or 1, but this is nuts. Anyone else notice? It can't just be me? Does CVSE need to start putting guys in brake checks. I'm not for it myself but if it means guys stop killing themselves or others I think something has to be done.

Or am I off my rocker at 5am with no coffee yet?

Put speed bump in road but leave 8' open so cars can fit through,
But an 8'6" truck will not.
    Make the bumps very tall.
Only screw that up once. (Ya right....)
    Problem solved.

I dont mind cvse sitting at brake checks and I have gotten a logbook ticket from a police officer who sitting at zopkios a number of years ago. Or put up CCTV that the scales can watch and pull trucks in for running brake checks.

See this Idea I like. I seen something similar in the US near Chattanooga they had a rest area style deal with a light in it. Trucks had to come in an stop at the light for a few minutes before it would change to green.

Yet another boot licking post. I don’t get why drivers in the industry are all in for more regulation. Ever considered the fact that with more enforcement there’s the possibility of harassment by your beloved authorities?
I bet these people wish they got a nice trophy each time they decided to snitch on their fellow drivers. Such a noble thing to do.
Also, I’ve seen plenty of “Old Canadians” ignoring signs or disregarding laws. Nobody’s feathers get ruffled.

Well tall dark and dumb, main reason I brought up this issue was the other day a teal green pete pulling a reefer driven by a white guy blew 10mile in a snow storm. Just to rush into Golden to park. I'm by no means a bootlicker I'd be the first guy to tell DOT or MTO to #### off, and I have before. What I'm tired of hearing or seeing is wrecks caused by dumb ####s who don't know how to do their job properly. Then there is morons like you that think DOT/MTO should stay out of what we do. To a point I agree but things like brake checks. In the rocky mountians? Nah I'm good with having them there cause it takes 2min to check your compressor and hubs for signs of over heating, but if that's too much for ya' you can gladly retire whenever you like.

I'll rest easy knowing I'm never involved in a runaway wreck or laying one over, or killing a bunch of kids in a snowstorm. Mind you I'll have to read about it, and probably know someone affected as many of my friends run the rock for a LIVING. That's all they do. That's basically all I've done all year, and it's pretty brutal how lax things are out here SAFETY wise.

Actually you know what. I retract my original remarks.

    #### it all! Let's just let people do what they want and we can have an Alberta/BC Humboldt incident and kill like 16-20 some people on a charter bus and forget we ever had this conversation and just ignore the fact that we know this stuff is going on.

Huh? Who's all with me? Or can we keep the opinions of the dip ####s to themselves?

Look at that clown who piled up into traffic stopped at construction in Box Canyon a while back. Didn't he lose his brakes? Its to prevent #### like that happening. Of course when the average driver these days is dumber than a box of rocks what can you expect? Most don't even know how the brake system works even if they were to crawl under the truck and look.

Exactly. I mean how many wrecks had to happen before they made FIELD a mandatory check? Hell 1-2 wrecks a week, or someone always laid one off the first curve.
