It has a traditional jake on the engine, but if I'm not mistaken also uses boost pressure to add to the jake.

2012 exhaust brake actuator with 7th injector for a Paccar. I bet the actuator is stuck.

I just said the same thing to the shop manager where the truck is.... fingers crossed that is the problem. It matches the two codes that we are getting, one for the engine brake and one for the bpv.

    Tropsnart Thanks this.

Frustrating but that should be a relatively inexpensive repair compared to a new turbo

That is true, its not the cost of the repair that is killing me at this point, it is being in the shop for almost two weeks without any income at the beginning of February.

Power to VGT is going to be 12V from the chasis load center.

Just wanted to update this thread and close it out. The shop found the problem just minutes after I showed up with my rental truck to get my trailer . Turns out that some insulation material from one of the parts that fell off of the truck got stuck in one of the metal screens in the back part of the exhaust system and was blocking the exhaust. The shop tech disconnected the exhaust behind the manifold and the turbo started spooling up right away.

I don't know how this forum feels about name dropping a shop, but for the sake of anybody else who is broken down in Baltimore, I would recommend staying away from Middleton and Meads. I spent yesterday redoing the inlet side of the engine because when they put it back together they used the old gasket on top of the turbo, and two of the silicone boots were coming apart, but they just put them back on the truck so it was leaking boost from at least two places. The last thing the shop did was road test the truck and they said all was good. In addition, they left a clamp that holds the DPF in place hanging loose under the truck. Also they lost two spacers on the passenger side of the CAC so it was loose and just flopping around on that side. I had to make up my own rubber spacer and fix their laziness on that as well.

They ended up charging me for 19 hours of labor for this whole thing. I understand that the shop needs to pay their bills but they could have cut us a break on some of the labor because they mis-diagnosed the problem half a dozen times before they finally figured it out.

Thank you for everybody on here that tried to help. We are back up and running and will be back to work on Monday. :):)
